While leatherjacket fish and the delicious horse mackerel both belong to the Carangidae family, the leatherjacket's larger size offers better meat yield and easier catch. This should theoretically makeit a star competitor in fish markets against the mackerels.
In reality, however, due to its meat having a strange, oily taste, it's largely ignored by the masses.
