The blackfin pearlfish aren't particularly difficult to breed in captivity.
Once the "nursery" has been set up with peat soil and shelters with hiding spots are added, a mature pair of blackfin pearlfish will soon begin their breeding process. The eggs, buried in the peat soil, can survive out of water in a dry state for reasonably long time.
While the blackfin pearlfish have relatively short natural lifespans, this unique breeding strategy is their way of ensuring survival of the fittest.
