The sanke koi are a variety of koi fish. Koi can evolve into colorful variants in their natural environment even without human intervention. However, these brightly colored koi are often easy prey to predators in the wild. Therefore, when selectively bred multicolored koi are reintroduced to the wild, they typically "revert to their true forms" after a few generations, thanks to natural selection.
