The ornate angelfish earns its "bellus" species name for its appearance. However, due to environmental or individual circumstances, it can undergo sex changes during growth, transitioning from the original blue-white coloration to a blue-yellow one. While still "bellus," the sexual dichromaticism never fails to catch novice hobbyists by surprise.
