It probably doesn't want to be just the right size to fit in a frying pan.
What a catch! My first oval Bluegill!
A Bluegill can fit perfectly into a regular-sized frying pan.

Bluegill is an Aquatic Creature in Petit Planet.

Omni-Gallery — Coolwater Zone
Scientific Name: Lepomis macrochirus

The Bluegill is a famous panfish because it fits perfectly inside a frying pan with no chopping required. Combined with their eagerness to bite, they are also a favorite among novice anglers.
However, it's worth noting that Bluegill existed long before the invention of frying pans, so no, it's definitely not "born for the pan."
