They are large and delicious, so merchants began aquaculture research early on, and accidentally discovered that they can be crossbred with the tiger shrimp.
Regrettably, tiger prawns are worth much more than tiger shrimps, and crossbred individuals, despite having tiger prawn genes, can only settle for tiger shrimp pricing.
