When the bean-shaped fist crab is threatened, it flops to the ground and becomes motionless, "abandoning all hope" in the face of danger.
This lethargic attitude extend to other aspects of its life too, as it prefers scavenging dead fish, shellfish, and crabs on the beach over hunting live prey.
