What a catch! My first striped bumblebee shrimp! It doesn't collect nectar.
The striped bumblebee shrimp has bright yellow and black stripes just like a honey bee, but unlike its namesake, it prefers not to ,wander among equally flashy coral.
Striped Bumblebee Shrimp is a Shore-Dweller Creature in Petit Planet.
It can be found in the Omni-Gallery in the Shore-Dweller section.
Omnipedia
The striped bumblebee shrimp have yellow and black stripes that are very conspicuous in the ocean, just like the bees on land.
If we follow the conventional train of thought, naturally, the bumblebee shrimp should also behave accordingly - weaving through beautiful coral and feeding on debris, just like the bees collect nectar among flowers.
However, in reality, they much prefer forming a symbiotic relationship with inconspicuous echinoderms like sea urchins and sea cucumbers.
Such a habit seems to render its evolved bee-like colors useless, but life's purpose is rarely so easily defined.
