It welcomes the venomous embrace of sea anemone sting cells, provided it's not molting.
What a catch! My first Magnificent Anemone Shrimp! It makes its home inside sea anemone.
It also shares food with sea anemones.
Magnificent Anemone Shrimp is a Shore-Dweller Creature in Petit Planet.
Scientific Name: Ancylomenes magnificus
Magnificent anemone shrimp aren't great at living alone. They rely on sea anemones for protection and share a symbiotic relationship with them.
They're usually immune to the anemone's poisonous sting cells, but their soft bodies lose this immunity when it's time to molt, forcing them to temporarily move away.
This becomes their "rite of passage."
