Beneath the heart shape lies an algae greenhouse.

What a catch! My first Heart Cockle! It's got love written all over it.
The Heart Cockle's heart-shaped shell is actually a tiny greenhouse.

Heart Cockle is a Shore-Dweller Creature in Petit Planet.

In order for it to spawn on a Planet Tender's planet, requires placement of the Lantern-lit Sands Vignette.

Omnipedia

Omni-Gallery — Intertidal Zone

Scientific Name: Corculum cardissa

The heart cockle's shell is an incredibly symmetrical heart shape. The special structure was designed to house symbiotic algae.
The algae provide nutrients for the heart cockle through photosynthesis, while the cockle offers a safe haven inside its body in a mutually beneficial symbiosis.
