When compared to the males of the species, female butterfly dragonflies' lack some of the metallic texture and sense of power. Possibly due to this power difference, female butterfly dragonflies will adopt a strategy of vertically dropping to the ground and plying dead when pursued by unwanted males, avoiding untimely "marriage."
