In dire situations, it sacrifices its beautiful long tails to escape.
Moon Moth is an Insect Creature in Petit Planet.
Omnipedia
Scientific Name: Actias dubernardi
The moon moth has a pair of gorgeous trailing tails.
Research has found that this seemingly flight-affecting structure can actually interfere with bats' echolocation system, throwing off directions for pursuing bats.
In dire situations, they can also break off these beautiful trailing tails to escape, similar to geckos.
