×???The eyespots on the wings aren't actually eyes.
What a catch! My first Squeaking Silkmoth with silver "eyes"!
It has silver "eye spots" on its wings to scare off predators.
Squeaking Silkmoth is an Insect Creature in Petit Planet.
Omnipedia
Omni-Gallery — Cave Zone
Scientific Name: Rhodinia verecunda
The Squeaking Silkmoth's "silver eyes" are eye-spot patterns on its wings that shine with a metallic silver luster.
It's generally believed that moths and butterflies evolved eye-like patterns on their wings to scare off predators, but in practice, they don't always work out as intended.
