The azure metallic hedge blue's wings have completely different patterns on their front and back sides.
Some argue that the vibrant colors on the wing's front are used for courtship among their own species, whereas the duller colors on the back allow for better camouflage when wings are folded for resting, helping them escape predators.
However, if we consider the overall behavioral logic, then this explanation clearly falls short. After all, butterflies can't tell who's observing their wings.
