The rope fish belongs to the Polypteriformes order, whose species are quite different from what we typically think of as "fish" from the ray-finned group.
The rope fish can "stand" using its pectoral fins and breath air directly. With its elongated body and subtle fins, it looks more like snake than a fish.
But don't worry -- accidentally stepping on one won't make you jump at the sight of ropes for the next ten years.
