What a catch! My first tiger butterfly! It can harness plant toxins for its own use.

Tiger Butterfly is an Insect Creature in Petit Planet.

Omnipedia[edit | edit source]

Tiger butterflies can convert different plant materials they ingest into substances that benefit them.
For example, during their larval stage, they store toxins obtained from a liana known as Graphistemma pictum to ward off predators.
As adults, male tiger butterflies feed on rattleweed to produce pheromones that attract females.
Compared to the traditional "feed, absorb, excrete" cycle, tiger butterflies seem to go above and beyond on this energy absorption business.
