The aurora swallowtail is a rare butterfly that directly overwinters in its larval form. Even when temperatures drop below zero, they do not choose to hibernate, but instead try to slow down the intensity of their physical activities, and quietly wait for winter to pass.
Perhaps tempered by natures trial, the aurora swallowtail's body is noticeably more robust compared to ordinary butterflies.
