{{Omnipedia Entry
|location = Coldwater Zone
|sname = Oncorhynchus nerka
|text = Sockeye salmon are born in freshwater and migrate to the ocean as they mature. Their bodies will also turn a silvery gray, better suited for life in open waters.
During spawning season, they migrate back to the rivers to spawn, and their body color will change again to a bright red.
When the "red tide" emerges in the rivers, you'll know that the sockeye have come home again.
