*Harpeno's name is a combination of two terms, ''Harp-'' referencing the animal she's inspired from, the Harpy Eagle, and ''-Peno'' from latin {{wt|Poena#Latin|poena}} which means "penalty". {{w|Poena}} is also the spirit of punishement in Greek mythology.
